Tiny messages to keep up, and two adventures

Wednesday, the very first of february already. The month where we can realise the temperature difference of how you people in Europe feel and how we feel here in the Carribean is 40 degrees Celsius. This very Wednesday in this very month, we threw away the garbage, saved a dog by giving him water and food for he was dying for thirst and hunger. We watched Big Bang Theory and Boer Zoekt Vrouw and we cooked oven pasta. We wanted to have a nice dinner outside, and just when we got settled and I shoveled the spoon full of pasta into my mouth, raindrops started falling on our head. So we rushed inside. While we were watching television, Baxter jumped next to us on the bed and slept there. When Roger locked up, and we were already sleeping, he found Baxter there, still sleeping, where as normally he's supposed to not even be inside. Ahh, and at this very Wednesday, the pawpaw seeds suddenly, very unexpected, germinated like crazy!

At Thursday we baked again. Anthony made a really nice Crown Loaf, and I made some chocolate muffins. Then we started cleaning out one of the two bungalows downhill. We found some hatched lizard eggs. Furthermore the cleaning involved a lot of sweeping, mopping and dusting. Anthony got a whole jumper of off the fan. Furthermore we saved the puppy the people from downhill had found. He had almost choked himself in his leash. And we gave him some water, because he had none.

At Friday we went down to clean the bungalow again. We sandpapered the table and the door, and we cleaned the ceiling. We also raked the old leafs on the field. In the afternoon it turned out the tyre of the car had been exploded. Weird wires came out of it. So we went to a tyre shop. This is quite a thing here on Saint Vincent, for there are lots of tyre shops but no good tyres to be found. They have water stored in an old open fridge and chicken and a rooster running around on their land. But the rastaman working there did some fancy craft with an amazing machine and got the tyres working again. The whole effort cost only €4,50. In the evening we had an An Charraig lentil, tomato spinach soup.

At Saturday we had a big adventure. We went to Bequia, the island close to Saint Vincent, which depends on rain for its watersupplies. So people have their own watertanks by their houses(Some have fish swimming in them and convince others that this is very good for the filtersystem, but forgetting fish do poo. And another situation, someone drank some water somewhere there and it tasted a bit weird, turned out their was a dead cat in their watertank.Grace for the modern watersystem.).
So with litres of water packed in our bags, we headed for the 8:15 ferry. It was a very big ferry. It was very nice at sea, we saw lots of other boats and some flying fish. Just before we arrived they caught a big big fish, amazing!
Then we arrived in the harbour and saw so many boats. There were beautiful white sand beaches and just a little amount of people, mainly tourists with facelifts and sharks on their shirts and white suncaps. And also a very enthusiastic touristwoman, walking in a too enthuastic speed, saying 'Hi' way to happy. Then she sat down, and 5 minutes later her husband arrived, totally exhausted, happy to finally sit. When he sat down, he had to hold her stuff, so that she could swim. When she was done she walked on immediately, her husband following her some minutes later again, still trying to catch his breath.
We wanted to walk to the furthest beach, but the road was blocked because it got sold to some person. Then there was a very nice hotel, but it was abandoned. The person who owned it had spend millions of dollars in it, but he got into a disagreement with the locals about the pathway being blocked for everybody. He didn't want to de-block it, so he had to forget his business there.Such a shame.
Anyway, there were also very nice places to have a drink. The gingerbreadhotel, where we had very nice ice cream, gingerbread cake and traditional white cake. We also had a very true croissant! And they actually sold cappucino's here. We drank some juice (guava!) in another bar. Their was this bar too, which was called 'Whaleboner' where the bar, gate and chairs existed out of actual whale bones. They have a festival of whaling at this island every year, so that's why they have these bones. Furthermore there were some shops with nice handicrafts such as handmade miniature sailing boats, made out of coconuts.
At the way back a kid had been snacking too many cheese sticks and puked it out, so the way back was a little less nice and a little more bumpy. When we got home, we were so tired we slept from 19:30 until....

08:00 On Sunday. We planted some tiny plants out in a bed in the backyard and we played some Age of Empires. We had some salad, Roti and Rice, and that was Sunday.

But on Monday, another adventure came to our path. Because this friend of Roger with the speedboat called he had a charter to Mustique today. Which is the island behind Bequia. So we packed our bags again and went down to the beach, where we were going to be picked up. Baxter walked us down to the beach and after 5 minutes our private speedboat charter arrived at the beach. We got in and we speeded off, Baxter became smaller and smaller and at a certain point we were at open sea. Flying fish were surrounding us, and it was so peaceful. So peaceful we were forgetting we were at an immensely deep part of the ocean, 4 km. When we crossed Bequia the waves got more rough. (We were at Bequia in 20 minutes, while when we went by ferry, we were there in 50 minutes). We were in Mustique in 50 minutes now. During the trip we saw a huge pirate ship.
When we arrived at the island we same enormous houses, which apparently were the houses of Bryan Adams and Mick Jagger. Mustique is full of houses of famous people. They come here to relax with their private flying jet.
It's not a very touristic island. But the tourists which do come here aren't allowed to take picture of the houses other than from the jeep. The other people who live here are serious millionaires. We saw really a little amount of people only. The beaches were almost empty, the ocean was even more blue then here, and even at Bequia, and the sand was even more white then here and Bequia, you really can't imagine. And the beaches were filled with this huge amount of beautiful Kong shells(you can't imagine). They were brought there by a hurricane some years ago. This island is amazing, you just can't imagine.
Anthony and I first started with a walk and bought really nice dried fruits(paw paw, mango and pineapple), then there was this tiny bakery (Sweety pie) where Anthony saw an actual 'appelflap' and he knew immediately what we would be taking. Then we walked really long on the beach, where we found beautiful shells. The island is filled with poisonous machineel trees. When it rains, you shouldn't stand underneath the tree, because some poisonous stuff comes off of the tree and it causes huge blisters. So we were lucky it didn't rain, since the whole beach was covered with those trees. This island is so fancy, that every 500 meters they have built a fancy picknick spot with a roof and a barbecue, ready for private use. There are so little people here, that during our walk we only bumped into 8 people (a rastaman sweeping leaves, 2 very red British people, 4 snorkeling tourists, and a very enthusiastic touristman with a cap and a huge backpack, walking in a too excited speed for the extreme heat there). Due to the lack of people, we did see lots of wild Iguana'sWe had a swim and then we went back to the little dock. Here was a bar where we drank a cocktail and some bitter lemons. We were really exhausted from the walk, it felt like 40 degrees, and there wasn't any shadow. Then we ate a lot of fries. And a bird pooed on Anthony, and then Wayne came back to pick us up again.
We first sailed along a hotel on the island where people were practicing a new trend: you have this surfboard, but instead of surfing on it, you just stand on it with a peddle and you peddle your way trough the ocean... Then we went back, and the sea got a little rougher. But it was an amazing ride. DAMN. Wayne tried to catch a fish too, but unfortunately he didn't catch any.
We arrived at the beach safely and when we wanted to walk home uphill, Baxter jumped out of the bush, bringing us safe uphill. We ended our day by battling against each other with Age of Empires, what a grand way to end this day, haha.

Our adventures where just amazing and it is hard for me to describe the beauty of this environment. But it is stunning, for sure. I hope the white landscapes in Europe are stunning too!

I'll put the pictures on another website now, because the former one is full. Everytime I write a new new blog, I will place the link for the photos at the end of the blog, so you can see the matching pictures.
