It was only some days ago I realised we are going to leave in only two weeks.
Last weeks we’ve been busy shopping for summerclothing, suitcases(and busy packing them, too), baking stuff, Christmas decoration(thinking in advance is a very useful thing to do sometimes) and more, building two boxes which we have been packing/stuffing and sending off to St. Vincent, watching movies?, practice baking, cake eating and buying tickets.
It was pretty nice shopping for clothing and realising there was no need to buy new, warm shoes, jumpers, sweaters and gloves. And on top of that, all swimwear was extremely discounted. Though the cold weather coming makes it also hard for me to find a ‘diving mask’. A quest I’m still on.
We’ve been buying lots of baking tins, baking tools and a whole lot of vanilla sugar(17 x 10 bags. Yes). Besides that, as a very early Christmas present, Anthony and I got cookie cutters(two boats, sword, jackrabbit, frog, two gingerbread man and one gingerbread woman for Christmas, an ice cream and a gecko), the baking bible of Mary Berry and the bread cookbook of Paul Hollywood. Very Nice.
As we practiced baking, we managed to make cupcakes, carrot cake, apple pie, brownies and as new stuff: ‘gingerbread men’ (or, to be precise, gingerbread (shooting)stars, hearts, circles and flowers) a very nice cappuccino cake and soft buns(some of them improved to Iced Fingers). On top off that, we are busy trying to refine our pizza dough almost every week(which also means eating pizza this frequent, how I love baking).
It’s pretty hard to get a Christmas tree in Saint Vincent. And as we are there during Christmas, we bought a fake Christmas tree to have one anyway. There’s just this one tricky part: the tree is being send to the island with the box. So it will be very exciting whether the box will arrive in time (that is, before Christmas). Only time can tell, I guess.
Then there was booking the tickets. We are leaving the 22th of November, a Tuesday. Our travel will look as following: normal aeroplane from the Netherlands towards London Gatwick, then a big aeroplane from London Gatwick towards Barbados, and then a tiny aeroplane to Saint Vincent. All in one day. (Getting 5 hours extra since it is 5 hours earlier in Saint Vincent, makes it a little more logical making this big travel in one day).
After hearing awesome stories, loaded with very cool plans, seeing very pretty pictures and having a very very very awesome travel company, I’m unbelievably excited.
