We were heading for the 'neue Museum' today, where we could see an Egyptian collection of ancient stuff.
During our route we bumped into a ‘Kuchen shop’ with the finest rolls and stuff. This made me realise here is one German word I actually like. 'Kuchen', special how a word can be both so hard and soft at the same time, so plain, but also so meaningful at once.
We passed a square and the television-tower. The most impressive part of this, was that the floor of the square is kind of collapsing. This made me wonder what will happen to the tv-tower in some years..
At the museum we saw the famous Buste of Nefertiti(the Egyptian queen), a golden and lots of other hats(nice collection which should be recommended to Beatrix).
After the museum, we both felt like a coffee. So we went for one in a university. But we both have been enjoying our coffees better other days. Anja put too many cinnamon sugar in hers (did you actually know, too many cinnamon can be poisonous?!,must be a lot a lot though, since I always use pounds of it, and i am still alive as well)). And of course, I managed to let my full cup fall down, not only over my clothing, but also on my new bag (which was a gift from Anja), into my bag, into my mobile phone and camera and food. Crazy. And so our hands smelled like coffee all day. And so, I need to buy me a new phone…
After the coffee(-accident), we went for a touristic walk. First we visited a monument for the book-burning. I found it very impressive, let me try to explain why. The monument was not most likely a huge statue. At first, it was placed underground. At second you could only see it by looking trough a kind of window in the floor. And then all you could really see were empty bookshelves. Then we passed the Brandenburger Tor and the Reichstag. Alsow,we saw so many policeme; on motorcycles, in cars, buses, ambulances. At first we thought German people found queen Beatrix very important(we saw in the newspaper she was in Berlin too), but then it turned out the ‘NAVO-people’ were actually at the Reichstag to discuss about Libia.
After the walk, Anja and me crashed a bookstore and hang there for an hour or so. I actually saw the official cookbook of Julia child, from the movie Julie and Julia, there.Very cool.
Then we went back home with the subway. At subway’s, I always check the trail to see whether I can see mice. And Yes, I did, just like in Paris. It is kind of like when you want to see shooting stars as well. You can count on it they’re there, you just need a little patience and keep your eyes on one spot. All of a sudden you will see one!
At home we had an improvise-mango-recipes-evening. We put mango with the vegetables and rice, mango in bread, mango in pie and mango in sauce. Somehow mango tastes a little like sweet cucumber, and somehow it smells like Christmas trees, somehow.
